Karoo shut down in the middle of ride

I was using my Karoo to navigate during the bike leg of a virtual Duathlon this weekend. It had been working fine through, but during mile 13, I looked down and the unit appeared to be powered off. I assumed that it had run out of power (though I had fully charged the unit the night before). When I got home, I discovered the unit still had more than 65% battery remaining. Upon power on, I found that it had in fact recorded something like 13.2 miles of my activity.

I couldn't find anything in the settings that would control something like power off inactivity time. However, I wouldn't expect this to occur during an activity anyway.

I don't see any reports of similar issues, but I'm wondering: what could cause this behavior?

I had the same problem last night. After 6.8 miles, my karoo just shut down. I turned it back on and it shut down again. When I got back to my hotel I plugged the Karoo in and immediately powered it on. The battery was at 89% and it stayed on. I'm going on another ride today. I hope I don't have the same problem today.

This is what the hammerhead team recommended to me ... Which worked.

Run it until it runs out if batteries. Then power back on and run until dead. Keep doing this until you can't even get the boot graphic. Then give it a good long charge.
