Favero Assioma Uno - Power halved on Bluetooth
AnsweredMy Favero Assiom Uno pedals, which are single-sided power meter pedals, continues to report halved power. Historically, I have been forced to enable a hack which doubles the wattage reported, but as of today, the Hammerhead Karoo is the only device I use which is unable to properly read the stock power.
I reported this issue 5 months ago, though back then I experienced this issue with Strava on Android as well, but as they have dropped Bluetooth support, the Hammerhead Karoo is the only device that I am aware of still reporting bad data.
I have tested the wattage today to validate the power is still halved in the stock configuration. Again, this is a single sided power meter & the Hammerhead Karoo is only device not correctly reading power.
See the following Strava rides I did concurrently today to demonstrate:
- Hammerhead Karoo recording pedals over Bluetooth - Result: Halved power
- Zwift on MacBook Pro recording pedals over ANT+ - Result: Accurate power. My sprints are about 800 watts, which are a nice metric to validate
In this session, I completed multiple sprints at the START and at the END to use as easy milestones in the recording to cross-compare.
Sample pictures of the bootup screen, showing accurate power on Zwift with Karoo showing halved power.

This is frustrating, as enabling this setting results in incorrect power for my indoor riding and it requires using my cell phone app to connect the power meter to disable the setting. (This cannot be toggled in middle of a Trainer / Outdoor session due to limitations of single Bluetooth connection to pedals)
See below for the Total Power x2 hack Assioma introduced.
NOTE: This feature is disabled on stock devices. I previously had this enabled to allow accurate power for my riding season where my Hammerhead Karoo was the primary recording device.

I think there is a misunderstanding.
My pedals are the Favero Assioma UNO model, which is the single-sided power meter model.
The Favero Assioma DUO is their dual-sided power meter model, which can transmit both pedals as a single Bluetooth signal. The Favero Assioma UNO single sided power meter pedals I have currently report the correct power on the majority of my platforms, but due to the Karoo (and formerly Strava on Android) recording the wrong power, Assioma introduced a 2x power hack for platforms incorrectly implementing power.
If you think this is the correct behavior, that is is comparable to saying a single-sided power meter crank should record half power since it is only one side.
If I use this hack for forcing compatibility with the Karoo, and then go use a platform that correctly records the stock data, the 2x power results in ridiculously numbers. As much as I wish I had the sprint power of Justin Williams, I don't have a 1800 watt sprint.

See below for a table I recorded to demonstrate how platforms

I have reached out to Favero support.
"Since we discussed last time, many apps have been updated and today very few people uses the function to force to double the data.
I will forward your email to my colleagues of R&D department; should the Hammerhead team contact us, we will be happy to help them."If your team could reach out to Favero and validate your implementation, it would be nice to see this resolved as the Hammerhead Karoo is the only platform I know of with this issue.

I'm interested in this too since my Karoo 2 just shipped, and I recently started using an Assioma Uno. I actually expect this to be moot since I'd plan on using ANT+ to connect the Uno to the Karoo 2, but until the head unit arrives I am having to use the Wahoo app on my phone, and it required the "doubling" configuration setting to be turned on if I don't want to be depressed by wattage readings half of what they should be. Given this is an old thread and maybe there's a situation where I use BT for some reason, just curious if the Hammerhead dev team worked with Favero on implementing a correct interpretation of the wattage readings coming from the Uno pedal. Thanks, and looking forward to my Karoo 2.

Hi Pete. I've talked to the Karoo staff a handful of times about this but it hasn't seen much attention and is still a problem. As of today, the only scenario where I need to use Double Wattage is my Karoo, as nearly all services accurately read data on stock settings.
I think the launch of the Karoo 2 made it hard to give attention to this issue, but I hope the team will give it some attention soon, but likely needs some prodding to get it back into their focus.

When I connect my Polar Look Kéo Power Pedals to the Karoo2 via bluetooth smart, only about half the wattage is displayed (same on Strava). The maximum power seems to be measured correctly. The displayed and recorded wattage is only about 50% what it should be.
The left and right pedal have been added as sensors to the Karoo2. However, only the upper sensor is displayed in green. The lower sensor, i.e. pedal, remains black. Therefore, apparently only one pedal is taken into account.
Is there any way to fix this?
