Newbie workout trainer issue
AnsweredHi,
loving the Karoo so far, but would really like to get the workouts sorted using my Kickr. The problem is:-
When pairing my Kickr on Ant+, I get 2 choices from the device scan. One that just says Trainer, and another that says Power (with icons representing power, speed, and cadence). I’ve tried pairing both (not at the same time) but there is no ERG control of power. The workout (synced from TP) has all the relevant time-based power data, but no trainer control from the Karoo - I have to try to match the workout power using my bike gears and cadence. Not what I was expecting.
I’m only using Ant+ (no BT), the Kickr 2018, and Tickr Fit HRM (Ant+). The Karoo is reading all the relevant data from the trainer, but not sending any control to it. Am I missing some setup stuff somewhere?
thanks.

Hey Chris, When you search the trainer on the sensor App, you can see the trainer on Ant+ as power id or trainer id. If you need to control the resistance, then you need to select the trainer id alone. If you don't want Karoo to control the resistance, you need to connect over the power id.
If you connect to the trainer profile, Karoo will drive it according to the workout as this is how it is designed to work with the trainer.
If this is not working as expected, could you please check the firmware version of the trainer? Also, please make sure that there is sufficient charge on the sensor as this could be another reason why it is not working as expected.

Thanks Hari,
I tried both ways (only pairing 1 at a time on ANT+) and didn't see any difference. Maybe I didn't start the workout properly, or something else and I'll give it another try later today.
The trainer is mains powered so there should be no issue with charge etc. I also checked the firmware on the Kickr and it's at the latest version.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Meanwhile, please see the KB article link I pasted here is helpful or not: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360043181054-Workouts

Update: It worked!
I paired the "Trainer ID" after removing all previous pairings for the device.
I was pedalling while I started the Workout and ERG kicked in - great!
A couple of other observations I noted.
1. The sensor dropped for about 10 seconds during the workout - only happened once so not a big deal.
2. The change of resistance for the interval transitions was slow - about 7s or so. Not a big deal for the workout I was doing, but might be a show stopper for shorter (sprint) intervals.
