if I do non route ride...an activity....how do I create a route from that ride

  You can do this on the Dashboard. 

  Open the Activity and then click on 'add route' or 'edit route' next to the 'Done' button, then clock 'Done'.  The list of routes doesn't seem to update correctly, so refresh the web page, and you should see the route created from the activity.

  Just adding that on android phones when you visit the dashboard, you can put a link on you homepage. With that it will open just like any other app.
