Same here with Karoo 2. Just won't charge after last update.

    Hey guys,

Sorry to hear about your Karoo's not charging. Could you confirm if the charging status improves if you try charging with a different cable? I would also urge you to leave the Karoo plugged in to charge overnight and observe if there is any improvement.

Update from my side: I turned off developer mode and went for a ride when the battery was down to ~44%. After the ride it was like 30% and after I plugged it in, it started charging again. So, not sure what exactly did fix it. I tried different cables and chargers before without success.

My Karoo 2 didn't seem to be charging. The screen would flash with the charging symbol but didn't seem to be doing much else. I turned off developer mode and it started charging as expected.

I have an E Bike (Orbea Gain D30) and have installed a DC 12v to 5v 3A dual USB charger as the phone battery is inadequate for extended rides. Will the Karoo2 continue to run when cycling while connected to the charging system or does it stop running when on charge (like Garmin)?

I use a small Anker power bank to keep my Hammerhead going while riding and that works just fine.

So I would think that if the charger you have does charge the Karoo, then it will run while you ride as you would like.

    Hey John,

We would recommend you to charge the Karoo via a power source that supplies current between 1.25A - 2.5 A at 5V. These would be regular power adapters/power banks while a 3A current supply would not be compatible with the unit.

Wait, what? Why would it be incompatible with a more powerful charger?

    Hey Miha,

Allow me to correct myself, Karoo 2 does not support charging over 5V & the maximum current flow is 2.5 Amps but only during 0-30% charging. Regular charging is around 1.25A. Therefore high ampere like 3A or a higher voltage charger could be dangerous or damage the product.

So it can't throttle excessive power then? I was always assuming that devices dictate the power when charging. Good to know, though.
