Karoo 2: battery issues and more
AnsweredHello there,
The more I use my Karoo 2 the more I like it! Nevertheless, there are a few things that do not quite seem to make sense to me.
- when the battery is fully charged at 100% and I start my ride the percentage drops to 97% or 98% immediately (literally within a few seconds). Is this normal behaviour?
- when I am having a break of, say, an hour the battery usage is in fact the same as for one hour of normal cycling, although I've set the display to go to sleep after ten minutes of idle time. I would expect the battery usage to be substantially lower in such a case.
- I have noticed something rather akward: the field showing the current speed alternates every few seconds between my current speed and zero (it then says 0,00). This is rather irritating, to say the least. Is it a known issue?
Last but not least: when will you offer grid lines between the fields? Or at least offer it as an option? I really believe it would make things so much more appealing, optically speaking.
Thank you.

Hello Leo!
I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the Karoo 2! I am happy to address your points!
- It is not abnormal to see an initial quick drop of a couple of % when powering on the device and starting a ride. Loading everything up, setting up your ride, routes, etc takes a bit more processing power than it does once everything is running and recording the ride. That can use a small amount of power like that. I am a little more concerned if it draining the same amount over an hour on a break with the screen off as it does during an hour of the ride.
- You should not see the speed going to "0" intermittently. I would definitely like to look more into this
I have created a ticket for you and replied to it - you should see that in your email. Please get in touch with me through that ticket and provide some more information on these points so that I may investigate.
Thanks for the suggestion about gridlines - as far as I know, it is not something the product team currently working on, but it is a good suggestion that other community members may like as well. I will share it with the team and it may be something they can add as a future project if they have received other requests for something similar!
