Hi, i want to join the group of people who want the karoo 2 feature to disable autoroute.
I've been putting off buying the device for a year, until it has this function I won't buy it.

I think many people like me won't buy karoo 2 until this feature is there.

It's a pitty Hammerhead don't/can't fix the rerouting problem.

Thinking of buying a Ga ga ga.....Garmin of something like that, only for this reason!??

    Hello everyone,

I have come to the conclusion that it is necessary to "press" from every side that we can.  Maybe our dissatisfaction will be noticed. I very much regret the fact that I bought this device without reading any forum.
Of course, it is a nice computer for the bike, but the rerute function in MTB eclipses the pluses. Especially after switching from Sigma ROX12.
Despite the fact that the ROX has aged badly I am considering going back to it and replacing the battery myself. Unless KAROO surprises me and others and finally meets our requests. After all, our suggestions should improve the product.

    Regards

23 days ago, ALI from HH wrote this in another topic:

"hi All, we are currently working on it and should be ready for the release in the next few weeks. This requires additional work towards the design and implementation, that matches overall and current product experience. We will let you know as soon as this has been shipped."

so hopefully.. someday SOON it will be GONE GONE GONE

Hi, I'll wait for the new model, if this one doesn't have the feature either I'll never buy it and I'll keep the wahoo roam 2.

Usually people who buy karoo 2 don't know that it lacks the ability to turn off autoroute.

I most certainly won't be buying one if the reroute "off" feature is not well done and easy to access. Based on how poorly they have handled this significant issue, I'm still inclined not to buy. Not having heart rate alarms is also an issue though smaller

My use case for disabling routing is for racing. I have a profile I use for racing that I'd like to disable rerouting on. I'll load the race route and have the map up so I know where the turns are, but an issue with the automatic rerouting will show itself when there are a lot of trees or buildings, and the GPS drifts.

The Karoo will think I'm off course and start trying to show me other ways to get back to the route. During a race if you take any other routes you'll be disqualified, so I'd like to only have it showing me the official route I loaded and nothing else.

It's been 2 years since this request was made, and nothing. How does that square with the promise of Karoo 2 being different than other bike computers, because it reacts to feedback and pushes updates quickly? So disappointing.

For me, the problem is solved !!!

After waiting for a year for an update that would have fixed the issue:

    I sold my Karoo 2

Had they just said, ", we cannot fix the problem. We'll fix it on the next issue" I would be fine. They've outright ignored the pleas and pissed of customers. I WON'T be buying another Karoo.

I have received this response from HH:

In the near term, you can expect a feature on Karoo 2 where you can simply follow a Route without any Re-routing even you deviate from it. This is under testing phase now.

We are looking forward to roll out this feature in the coming updates.

    Awaiting your response.

    Hi Hari,

I don't want to debate, but the re-routing feature has improved over time and when we specify the route preference in the profile, gravel in my case, this works pretty well for my usage.

But I agree that disabling it can be helpful in some cases, such as strict races where we can only follow one route without any deviation.

Is there a way to participate in a the test groups for this feature and others?

    Thank you for your support.

    Best,

    Kevin.

When you select the route you have 3 options:

    1- Follow the route

    2- Follow in reverse

    3- Follow as breadcrumbs

Last one is the one you are asking for.

"Follow as breadcrumb" is not a replacement for disabled rerouting. That option completely disables turn by turn navigation. The easy and unfulfilled wish to Hammerhead is to disable turn by turn when you are off track just *until* you are back on track.

Come on Hammerhead! When are you going to listen to users?

Create the function to disable re-routing.

I didn't buy the Karoo 2 and I will never buy version 3 for this very reason.

Can’t believe this! I’m about to set off on a 5 day mtb trip in Spain. I’ve been provided with all the maps and uploaded to my Karoo 2.
But I’m going to have to use my iPhone instead of Karoo 2 as I want to stick to the plotted route.
We want to be able to turn off re-routing!

Would be about time to have the "Disable rerouting" option. Personally I don't need it at all.

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum, from the latest release notes:

Introducing the ability to disable re-routing on your Karoo. You can now configure your re-routing preferences for each of your profiles. You can also turn re-routing ON/OFF from Control Center during your ride.

Turned it off on all relevant profiles, looking forward to seeing it for myself on my next ride. In its current iteration the rerouting function has been pretty much useless to me, usually can’t really tell at which point the new route actually starts making sense and just try to ignore the cues until I’m back on the route. Hopefully in the new setup I can just spend the 15+ seconds (and probably stopping) to drop a pin in the rare case that I actually want cues to get back to the route.
