Trouble with Viara radar distance display

I recently purchased a Karoo 2 after using a Garmin 1030 for a number of years. I use this paired with the Vaira 510. 

I've noticed pretty conclusively that the detection (or at least display) of passing cars on my new Karoo happens a troubling amount later than on the old Garmin. If the Garmin catches the car at the bottom of the screen then the Karoo may see or display it somewhere around ⅔ of the screen to a full ½ ! Tthat's quite a reduction in reaction time especially if trying to negotiate hwy speeds!

We need better detection!

    I use also the Varia 510, but don't recognize this issue. Cars are picked up at the bottom of the HH Karoo 2 screen.

    I'm using the K2 with the Varia 315 and I've randomly and very infrequently seen vehicles appear nearly midpoint on the line graph. Not having the forethought or time to actually look back immediately when this happens I've always put it down to a weak and/or discontinuous radar signal return that either the Varia or the K2 cannot determine a reliable distance of until the returned level or quality signal improves. I have no other head unit to compare this situation to.

    Edgar, that very weird! Your experience mirrors mine on my garmin 1030, but not one my Karoo.

    Bob, I wish it were more random. ⅔ down the screen is about the maximum I've seen. I don't believe it to be simply a display problem. The cars are closer than what I used to expect.

    Hi.  Another Edgar here taking issue with how this display is happening.  My K2 is only a week old and have had this with day one.  Garmin App draws from bottom to top regardless of size of phone, (I have a 13 mini and wife a reg size 13) and I am not sure if this is software or hardware issues.  I would guess it is software but why does it seem so few see this if it is not hardware.

    I have filed support ticket 142506 for this so you can reference it if you have the same issue

    @doug @Bob L. Are you still having this problem with the Varia?

    Seems like multiple people experience this as an ongoing problem. If cars only show up halfway up the line or are detected later than a Garmin shows them, then this is a completely broken feature — and a major safety issue. If this is a common issue I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in, though the misspelling in the title of this post might affect search results.

    Anyone else with this issue? Any comment from Hammerhead? In the other thread @Shruti claims the issue was fixed but Doug reported it over a year later.

    I've come to grips with its inconsistency. seems like a clock-cycle problem with the Karoo2 processor.

    @stanley I reported it within the last month. Supposedly a bug is logged with no time frame.

    Below is response I received when I noticed my ticket had been closed

    Hi Edgar,

    We appreciate you patiently working with us and providing all the information needed to escalate the issue. The ticket is only closed on Support queue but that doesn't mean the issue is resolved.

    Hari had attached all this information to a master ticket raised with the Software team and raise this as a bug that warrants a fix.
