In DCR's rain soaked experiment, the 1030 appeared to be more responsive than the 1040, maybe the solar screen impedes the hit rate.

I can confirm my Garmin 1040 non solar is much more capable with rain, I accidentally washed my bike with 1040 still on it after Sundays ride and the screen still worked fine. K2 is not best in rain, mine goes mental and then also needs time to dry out to become responsive.

@Mark Without wishing to derail the topic how do you find the naviagting aspects on the 1040 vs the Karoo 2? I've had to resort to my 530 becuase of the Di2 removal and I took 3 wrong turnings at a really  complex junction, and had to restart the course when it flatly refused to see I was back on course.  The K2 is SO much better than the 530 re the navigating side of things.

So how does the 1040 compare? Is turn by turn clear and route clear on the map?

    Thanks in advance.
