[Radio Toggles] Karoo Software Build Version 1.325.1326
AnsweredWhat was the determining factor of the removal of this functionality - the exact same functionality that is offered on every other RAN (Radio Area Network) device that is produced and sold?
IMHO this is a regression of product usage - the ability to turn radio's on and off at the users discretion.

@Ali - this does not answer my question and the topic should not be flagged as such, it is because your answer does NOT address my concerns as a user and, I've been voted down on asking about functionality that was not fielded to, at least, the community support forums.
So, since no survey of the current customer base was taken and you have failed to address my question - I shall ask again - what was the determinant to remove ALL the user functionality to disable radios?
Does Airplane mode even work still?
This is a standard function of all android O/S and forms part of the base system so why was it ACTIVELY disabled - what are the reasons behind this and please do not reply with what you already have, a variation of it or what is contained in the release notes.

honestly mate, like most, I've paid a large chunk of money on two karoo2's in the last six months and the ability to "physically", software disable, turn off the radio's is something, like my phone, is a good thing for many different environments and power usage.
This also raises the question with regards to privacy and location tracking - e.g. - GPS is no longer present as a software switch and can be disabled and NOW Bluetooth (beaconing, etc.) and ANT+ (legacy devices needing beaconing)
But WiFi is still there... seriously - this is some seriously weird PI planning - is WiFi going to disappear next?

Hi Michael, I'm similarly annoyed at thee updates removing functionality and user control over their devices. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a way to roll back but it seems like the Hammerhead guys really don't care. Every time I do the Update I'm hoping it's going to get the features I want added, only to be left disappointed by some superfluous addition like 'custom sensors for profiles' - how about it just connects to whatever paired sensors that happen to be powered on & in range (though only to the radios that I choose to be activated), or some pretty wallpaper that I have no control over! It's just one step backwards at a time it seems!

cheers Charles, the irony is mate is that this very thing - product evolution based on client feedback for product management and development, I even chip in with code also time-to-time, is my day-to-day for a large ISV. Suffice to say, without the interactions from PM/PD of hammerhead to the field - especially technical support and internal community forums such as this, even after the acquisition by SRAM and I personally have invested a lot of cash into SRAM gear as well, has left an overall sour taste in my mouth to completely step away from this vendor altogether, let my cash speak for me... jm2c's, ymmv, be well mate.

Hi Michael, and Charles - Sorry for my delayed response on your follow ups. The decision was taken based on the rider research through the feedback form provided on the software release emails. The idea was to simplify the pre-ride and in-ride sensor experience. If there are no sensors paired over the ANT+ or BLE, the chip is automatically turned off.
It actually works similar to what Charles described in his comment. Connects to only those sensors that are nearby but enabled through the Profiles that you select for your ride. That means adding the right sensors for that selected profiles. The other sensors that are paired but not in use will be automatically disabled in-ride.
Hope this helps with some of the doubts that you may have!

Interesting, no doubt you can tell from my response that I did not see the email you are describing.
Due to both the instability and the intermittent issues being experienced from others that this functionality is not operating correctly - I have also noted this along with the annoying "HX Sensor" widget crash screen that appears.
No, it does not address the question of doubts I currently have of the builds being released.

Michael, I would request you raise a ticket with us so we can address your question and even get on a video call with you if needed. Also, please let us know what issues you are currently facing. The major issues reported on forum and related to the GPS and Combined speed cadence sensors has been addressed in the last release.

really? time zone is a new issue that is reported September 8 - 1.325.132
So you mentioned that GPS has been addressed - I beg to differ just on the quick search I did within the community forums.
-
Hi Michael, likewise I was unaware of any email. I've managed to toggle the Bluetooth using a side-loaded app if that helps you out in anyway.
Ali - if you're still there - any update on the Specialized E-bike battery level display? You personally said we should have it by mid 2022?
-
Hi Michael, On those, post we are already working with the users. If anyone has any issues, we suggest raising a ticket with us to investigate.
Charles, yes, we have started our initial works with the E-bikes already. However, this may take more time based on research and user experience that we would love to improve from any of our competitors. We will let our community know when we are closer to releasing it!
