Carlos, you should not need it. We only included after a few users generated some interests in the initial batches. Check this out: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360056816894-Why-is-the-USB-port-open-

Just do not charge the unit immediately after a wet ride, see the instruction here on charging your Karoo 2: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360058770653-Charging-Karoo-2

I think a proper USB cover is needed for those who ride in adverse environment like mud, beaches, and salty roads.  It might be waterproof, but things like salt and sand can do a number to the delicate plastic port and copper connectors inside.

Or you can get one of those "MagSafe" style usb-c magnetic adaptor.

@Tom totally agreed. Even tho the usb-c is waterproff, it is still exposed to solid particles such is mud, yeah. Which is the reason why I'm getting one those magnetic detachable connectors. So the small male piece will remain attached in the Karoo, protecting/covering it.

This is what I'm talking about << CLICK

Agree! Don't want to have to deal with charging a wet port on multi day camping trips.

Thanks for the MagSafe suggestion. I lost the itty bitty teeny tiny cover at the very first charge out of the box. No chance that was going to last.

I have used my Karoo 2 twice now and on both rides the USB plug fell out and was lost despite being pushed in as securely as possible. 😕

I have a Karoo 2, and both of my USB port covers have fallen out on the trail. Like others in this thread, I'm worried about mud and dirt getting in there, and how I'll recharge it on multi-day bikepacking trips if it rains.. The USB cover should be attached to the device.

I like the idea of the MagSafe. Has anyone tried it and had a success with it not falling on the trails. Also I found these tethered covers on Esty. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1123773052/4-pack-tethered-charging-port-plug-for
