Map screen shows black boxes instead of street names

The map screen shows black boxes where the text should be (see photo below).  Sometimes it's just enormous black boxes everywhere, like some sort of overlay gone wrong.

I've updated to the latest firmware, the issue still persists.

Anyone seen this before or know of a fix?

  I'm just looking at the map screen, not recording and no route loaded.

  I've tried a hard reset & have re-downloaded the maps, still black boxes everywhere, though now they flicker between road names and black boxes when I pan around.

  Alex, can you try and change the profile and see if it improves? or create a new profile. It could be an issue on the street names display only.

  I've deleted the profile and am trying to recreate it.  Can I only have one map card in a profile?  I'd managed to get two in the profile showing the black boxes (one with two data fields, one with none) but now it only lets me choose "Data" or "Workout" from the "New Screen" page.

  Alex, yes - there can be only one maps page. Probably that's the reason for the boxes. We need to solve these two issues before we can include dual maps.
  1. Incredibly high battery drain
  2. RIde crashes and technical glitches.

  Only having one map screen seems to have fixed this.
