Software Build 1.198.1007.3, B+D buttons don't turn screen off

After installing the latest software release 1.198.1007.3, the functionality to quickly turn off the screen by pressing the B+D buttons simultaneously does no longer work, as described in here: https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/articles/360052360133-Karoo-2-Physical-Buttons-

Long pressing B+D brings the app switcher (and very briefly the Power Menu screen)

Look into the firmware release notes, it’s not a bug (but user manual you linked needs updating), Hammerhead changed this button function

You now use B+D to bring up navigation cues / phone notifications / lap data history.

Tu turn screen off use A+C (top buttons) and turn off screen from there or use battery save mode

Didn’t see that. Thanks for pointing it out.

That being said, A+C doesn’t work either when you are in the dashboard. The only way to turn the screen off is long pressing C button

When you press A+C a quick settings menu should pop up (with „add route”, „route to home” etc.). On the far left should be „turn screen off” option

Yes when you have a profile selected, whether you are in an active workout or not.
Not in the dashboard (profile selection). At least for me.

When in the dasboard just long press B and there you have option tu turn Karoo off or turn screen off

Yes, that’s correct. I said that above.

If this was the intent (remove the quick A+ C to turn screen off) It feels weird though that such a handy shortcut was removed.

Yeah, but they did ;) but I agree that was useful. I can live with that because we got a nice feature in return.

Still figuring everything out! Like it so far. Tell me, what are ‘non-Hammerhead apps’? Feel I might be missing out on a whole parallel world.

Thanks for the feedback and discussion - Yes that button mapping did change and the update to the support article is in the queue. We had lots of fixes and features roll out this time so we are still working on the articles.

Thanks for your patience and adaptability to the new layout! It's in response to lots of feedback and requests to access the navigation, notification, and lap history info. It's very cool once you adjust to the change!

Hey Jeff - the apps are new! We partnered with Xert and now offer their app. The app is only visible and available to download after linking your Xert account in the Hammerhead Dashboard.

That's just the first one - as we add other apps and partners, there will be more there to see!

Updated information for turning the screen off after 1.257.1131, December 16, 2021:

Turning the screen off can now be accessed via the new Control Center, by either swiping down or pressing buttons A+C (top left & top right). Then swipe left or hit C again to get to the next screen and select "Screen Off" there.

...at least until the next firmware update that changes things yet again.
