Do you like the new "in-ride look"?
I always try to be positive about new user interfaces. I always try to recognize the advantages of new UIs. In my previous job I designed a lot of UIs.
But this new updated UI does not work for me. The legacy UI was a very good looking UI (It had some roughness, but was a nice, modern UI). The new rounded corner boxes are pointless, the grey background color is ugly, and not harmonic. The legacy UI was much more modern this new UI is just old fashioned and outdated. The large upcoming elevation graph black background on a black screen looked very good, the new grey graph is just ugly. The legacy UI gave higher contrast feeling, the new grey color brings low contrast feeling.
My suggestions for Hammerhead are rethink and tweak this new UI and/or make an option to use the legacy UI (my main buying decision to Karoo was the good looking UI). The best would be it you keep the style of the legacy UI and make small updates and error corrections on it. It the new boxes layout is a must have (for future functions), you have a much more better way to design a boxed layout.
Please review this new UI!
What do you think?

Dragging fields around while riding totally sounds like an idea that seemed good at the office, not so much on the road. I get enough accidental data page changes from accidental or misinterpreted touches, raindrops, what have you, that I wouldn’t want to see a version where they might result in something you can’t simply undo by one click of a physical button.
Also, agree that the whole point of a well thought-out data layout is that you find things where you’d expect without too much thinking, and editing the fields on the fly runs contrary to that.

I’m among those not expecting any dramatic changes with the next update. HH has a bad history of feeding us with this or that is going to change, this is coming, blah blah, and nothing ever changes. Same song and dance. It’s getting boring and old. The Karoo 2 sits on a desk unused at this point.

@Stephen Black
I have the same feeling, the roolback is something will never happen. Só the history will be the same. Words, Words and deceitful marketing to deceive the next new customers who, if they pay attention to the forum, will realize that there are basic things in a GPS that don't make sense only in HH.

So far it is not good. I might understand that this is a temporary state with some required underlying work until the final UI refinements are published but releasing the interface like this is a visual step back for us users. If I could downgrade the OS version until all changes are published I would. Hoping for a UI fix in the next release, which can't get quick enough.

anyone else refreshing this page (https://www.eu.hammerhead.io/blogs/change-logs) every hour :) ????

@Ali I hope the delay is for a better release. But with all the bad feedback on the last release, today Hammerhead had to go easy on their customers and release a new version with at least some space improvement. Larger text sizes, just that. That can be done from one day to the next. Or give the option to go back to previus IU.
I'm disappointed, really very disappointed

@Ali - disappointing. 262 comments, plus twitter, reddit, etc. that have 99% unhappy users with this release. It's not hard to roll back. If June 29 doesn't have a big fix (even a roll back would be considered a big W at this point) will start looking at other units. Current update does not work for me, it's not subjective feel, I can't see what I need to when I need to. Your modern clean display is what pulls people to this device. It's not the battery life, it's not the Shimano support .. This is not great.

Hi Ali ... any chance you are your company could put out a post by itself, and not hidden inside this very long thread? Once again, you have given no information whatsoever to your customers!
Just a small note to explain WHY there was no update today would be nice. I know you are all under pressure after the shambles of the last update, but you continually keep making the same basic customer service error of not giving any information! People prefer to know SOMETHING! Even if it news they don't like, al least they have to something to consider!
-
I agree with Steve! I do think it totally makes sense and we as loyal customers deserve at least a statement to all the negative feedback here and how you'd like to proceed with this. Will you do something? Will you just ignore it? Everything is welcome but no reaction is from customer success perspective the worst tbh!

Very disappointed.
We did not ask a new system update ...for all of us it was enough to have the previous graphics back: that UI was a beauty and now it's a disaster.I'll keep all my fingers crossed till 29th June and then I will see if to give up with Hammerhead or not.
PS: FUNNY FACT:
One month before this crazy software update I had a long discussion with a friend who was in process to pick up his new GPS device. I brainwashed him so much that he went for the K2. He rode happily with it and he could not be more grateful about my suggestion.
I recently spoke with him and he's crying days and nights missing the old K2 UI.
@ Ali: HH developers should know that it's not just 3 or 4 picky users who can't stand the new UI. It's an army of people who truly hates it.

@Lee
I know how you feel. I honestly never liked white themes and in all my devices/wearables the main condition to pass the buying test has always been: "do they have the dark mode?"
What they did with the UI is utterly bad. Instead to improve something that was very close to a graphic perfection they messed everything up.
