Imported GPX Route displays "MAP UNAVAILABLE" even after downloading offline maps
AnsweredI purchased the GPX route files for the "Atlantic Coast, Section 1" route from Adventure Cycling. My wife and I will be riding this route next week and planned to use the Hammerhead Karoo for route guidance. The route begins in Maine and passes through New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island before ending in Connecticut.
I imported all of the GPX files to our Dashboard and then downloaded the Offline Maps for all 4 states that the route passes through to the device. Even with all 4 maps downloaded I am still unable to display the route on my Karoo, the message says "MAP UNAVAILABLE" and there is a link that reads "Download Map".
If I click on the "Download Map" link it just brings me to the main offline maps page with no indication of what Map it thinks is missing. I double checked the route and verified that the maps for all 4 states indicate they are downloaded in the offline maps section.
I tried removing the route from the dashboard, verifying ino longer showed on the device, and then re-importing the route AFTER downloading the maps and I am still unable to display the route, same result "MAP UNAVAILABLE". I even tried rebooting the device, still same result.
The fact that the device gives no indication of what map is missing is vey frustrating. I even tried downloading maps for neighboring states like Vermont and still have the same problem.
How do I know what map it thinks is missing? Any ideas on how I can get this route to work?

Thanks for the tip Matt. The route is 473.5 miles ling, so it is quite long. I have tried leaving the Karoo on for approx 1 hour and route is still showing MAP UNAVAILABLE. One correction to my initial post. I have downloaded all 5 state maps (Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut) and verified they all show as downloaded in Offline Maps.

I am having a similar problem. After having worked well it started showing MAPS UNAVAILABLE and a link that says Download Map, which goes to a variety of unrelated maps. I reset to factory settings and resigned in but the same problem occurs. I had to go to my Garmin 820 in order to do a ride. Help.

I purchased my Karoo 2 back in April 2021 after switching from a Garmin 810 for many years. Uploaded various routes in MA, NH & VT and had no issues using them. Experience same problem noted in this thread when vacationing in Maine last week. Uploaded several routes prior to going to Maine as GPX files. Those routes worked fine. However, while in Maine, I created new routes through Strava and uploaded as GPX files to my Karoo2. I set out on of the routes and seemed to work fine for first 20 or so miles then suddenly, the map was gone while I was on a fire road (grave ride). I could no longer follow the planned route. But, I could follow the local roads/trails and with the aid of my Iphone, managed to make my way back. I downloaded the Maine "offline" map successfully. (Indicates "downloaded" under "Maine"). Yet, when loading the route it still shows as Map unavailable. Fortunately, I had my garmin with me and used that instead for my remaining Maine rides. Very frustrating. Never had this issue with my Garmin 810.
Fast forward to yesterday, riding back in MA with no planned route and notice my map was not available on the display as I was riding. That never happened before. What gives?

Hi Leon, the map unavailable can be seen when the route passes through regions not downloaded on Karoo. Now that region can be very small, and may not even show a county/state of where that route is. Consider the regions of Karoo's offline maps as square boxes, and if any of those boxes touches the places your route passes through - you will have to make sure it's downloaded on Karoo. You can send the GPX file to us and we can help you sort this out.
