    It says

    All of your routes, rides, and profile settings will be synced back to the Karoo 2 after signing back into your Hammerhead Account on the device.

    What is lost then after hard reset? Only sideliaded Apps or all Data fieldvpages as wel?

    Same problem here: Download failed. If more people have this problem, I expect Hammerhead to resolve this properly.

    Karoo 2: Got the same issue.

    Stated there was a update available - but it kept failing with "Download failed" ... attempted multiple times on different WiFi's.

    Then I tried the hard reset...

    Bad idea, it just stops at the "Downloading the latest software" step because it still fails the download.
    So it is stuck because I cannot skip that step... so for now the device is "bricked"

    I'm starting to suspect Hammerhead has a hosting issue on the servers providing the update.

    After a hard reset update fails when going through the initial setup fase so not an option. (unfortunately I already did a hard reset) And went through the initial setup already twice as it somehow did not remember anything. Now hanging on downloading the latest software without any progress visible, only telling me there is an update available.

    Did another Hard reset
    This time I connected it to my phones Hotspot

    And here it did "Update failed" - And now it had a "SKIP" option

    So now it appears I can get the device up and running - then I will have to deal with the update later.

    Factory reset doesn't help me, so I think it's server problem. Maps downloading is working.

    Got a response on my support ticket:

    We’re aware of the issue preventing some riders from downloading the latest software update on their Karoo. Our software team is investigating, and we’ll share an update as soon as a fix is in place.
     
    We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this quickly.

    I'm also having the same update problem with my Karoo 2. Download fails also after sign out and thereafter in. Also reconnecting to WiFi network doesn't help.
    I was able te register a ride and upload to connected accounts.

    I don't understand why they release updates on Fridays. No serious company releases updates on Fridays. Every cyclist loves navigation problems after a weekend update ;). Only Hammerhead benefits from this, because people ride a lot on weekends, so they'll give them a thorough test of the update.

    @Andrzej Release day is on Thursdays. As far as I remember, this has never happened before. I ran the update Thursday evening without any problems. It seems the cause isn't related to the Karoo devices.

    The trick with a phone as a hotspot worked, no update though but a working Karoo 2.

    Same problem with Karoo 3. I tried different WiFi networks, but the download does not start. Uploading routes works.

    Tried again a few minutes ago and update downloaded/installed successfully. Hope it works for everybody.

    Tried on the home network again - now it updated... Don't know what changed though 🤗

    Good news — the issue with downloading the latest software update on your Karoo has now been fixed. Our software team identified a problem on the servers and have since rectified it.
     
    You should now be able to download the update without any further issues.

    @Gerard In States it is Friday but for Europe and Asia it is Friday. So for the most of the world it is Friday.

    I also can't connect to Wi-Fi and update, and if I skip this connection step, my phone doesn't show the pairing line.

    @вадим Karoo 3 -> Go to Settings > scroll down to Factory Data Reset > click Reset.
    The Karoo OS will now be reinstalled. After installation, log in again; your data, including rides and activities, will be restored from the cloud. You will need to add your maps again and, if necessary, reconnect your sensors (heart rate, gimbals, power meters, and meters).
