Got the same today. After 35km the GPS froze and gave the warning acquiring gps signal. It didnt pick up gps untill I restarted the Karoo. Then it happened again in 2 km.

It’s happened three times so far in the 75mi route I’m currently on - each one requiring a reboot to fix. Not practical to navigate on my phone on this route so am cutting the ride short - really a bummer of a day.

Same problem with me, immediately after the FW from Thursday:

    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/56631722377499-HX-DataSynch-Alert-after-FW-update-THEN-GPS-trouble

Reported it to HH support on friday but no answer as yet, Maybe they had suddenly got themselves very busy!

If it can't be fixed over the weekend, they should re-release the previous version as the latest. A cycling computor without reliable GPS is useless. I'm sure they'll be able to fix it.

Assume there's no point in doing a factory reset? As it will just install the latest FW which is causing the problem?

Same here. Once about 30 miles in yesterday and again today around mile 55. I initially thought it was a tree cover, but today it was on the middle of the bridge :D Noticed it because suddenly speed went to 0 and map stopped updating.

Yes same problem with me. Device lost gps signal 10km before home and didn't reconnect back. Never happened before.

The same here, since I don't pay much attention to velocity I didn't recognize it immediately. Restart helps for approximately 30min . Thanks for f up my stats, new wheels day ruined 😂

First ride after latest update today and I also lost GPS completely after around 20-30mins. With “Acquiring GPS” message across the top. Remained that way for the rest of the ride and seemed to sort itself only after restart.

Support responded saying: We have received multiple reports of GPS-related issues, and our developers were notified late yesterday of a potential issue. Thank you for your report and for bringing this issue to our attention!

The team put a fix in place a short while ago that should resolve the issue. Changes will take place the next time the device boots with an internet connection (Wi-Fi or Companion App/smartphone) so it can check in with our servers. If your device is powered on, it needs to be powered off and back on.

Sorry for any inconvenience! Please let us know if you continue to have issues. Replies may be delayed since normal business hours are Monday-Friday.

    More from
Support : There is no indication on the device. As long as it boots with internet, it will receive the updated settings. We put the fix in place 51 minutes ago, so it needs to have booted up within that timeframe to receive the change

The so-called fix didn’t work for me. Seeking warranty return. If I can’t rely on the device to work, it’s useless to me.

Surely they could just publish the last FW file as a “new” one, let everyone go back to that, then fix properly?

I would urge everyone affected to contact HH support, especially if the fix doesn’t work.

Monday to Friday is fine apart from when you’ve busted everyone’s cycle computer over the time when most of us get to cycle….

Guys - sorry for my sense of humor, but I’m glad you’re having the same problem I am :) I thought my gear had died. And it just so happened I was riding in unfamiliar territory over the weekend, so I had to keep stopping and restarting four times.

Booting to wifi didn't helped. After 10km GPS was lost today.

The fix did improve, but not fix the issue, when ive a route loaded and take another turn (so recalculation trigger) it freezes.  it also froze after 2 - 2,5 hour when it went to standby/black screen for second time. hope this helpt finding the fix.

Same here, twice this weekend. Shocking it wasn't properly tested before it was pushed out to everyone. Roll it back ASAP!

Exactly. Either fix it now or just roll back to previous FW.

The fix didn’t fix it. Though while yesterday, the issue occurred almost every 30 minutes, it happened less frequently today after the ‘fix’ : about 1hr40min into a 2 hr ride

Performed update per “Chase Pinkerton’s” recommendations early this morning and then rode 50 miles starting around 8am EST. Experienced the same “acquiring gps” issue and route (and progress) froze. Rebooted and worked fine for another 25 miles and again froze. I knew the route so just finished ride and saved files, but has a backup of Strava running on Apple Watch. Hoping this gets fixed soon as I’m leading a destination club ride Tuesday and need the routing! May have to buy a competitors product!
