I think this happens only if follow the route. Iwas riding today's morning without one for an hour and all was good.

Same issue here. This is kind of a crucial functionality, isn’t it? It really needs to be fixed ASAP, otherwise Karoo is basically a piece of garbage right now

went back to Garmin yesterday due to all of that information....

been using Karoo 2 since launch day, then Karoo 3... I remember only one similarly huge fuckup after update and it was resolved within a few hours...

    time has changed..

The exact same issue happened to me, and even after rebooting, the problem would return as soon as I loaded the route again. This morning, I loaded my route and started riding, but after 5 km the device still hadn't acquired any GPS signal. I had to restart it and load the route once more. Around the 20 km mark, it completely froze and stopped recording all data, yet interestingly, the Garmin Varia was the only component that didn't freeze and continued to work flawlessly. To prevent it from freezing again, I rode the rest of the route without loading any map.

I can confirm this issue only started occurring after updating to the latest Karoo Software Build Version: 1.658.2535.

Got an response today that not tolong ago there was a fix, with the instructions rebooting from internet, they said they got lots and lots of issues. So i guess all related o this ;) My answer of course was if it was the saturday or sunday fix. which i already tested, and that it helped but not fixed the issue.

    Hey,

had the same issue in the morning running 1.656.2526. After 4km GPS is lost. After rebooting it only last 6km, droping the signal. I perfomed the update to 1.658.2535 and the ride home seems fine vor 25km. I did several reboots connected to wifi

Suggest future updates are released earlier in the week- Monday or Tuesday- so the community can test them for a day or two and if the update is flawed, feedback will occur during the workweek allowing a few days to fix it. Releasing an update on Friday is not a good idea, particularly with support only working Monday thru Friday.

Yes, early release for whoever wants to test it.

This GPS flop taught me two things:

    1. DO NOT update right away once the new version gets released :D
    2. to disable Auto Download in settings

But I ran the older version and had no problem since now! I think some gps configuration files or something, installed without a major update is responsible

@Robyn Arce - i think they are resleased on thursdays (early evening UK time normally), but your point still stands. Releasing updates on Monday would make much more sense.

I have read posts from people with the problem only recently but without downloading the update. As the "fix" was not part of an update it looks like they do release patches invisibly and this may well have been the cause this time.

Strange they haven't added this issue on the known bugs an issues topic.

    https://support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/360044025794-Known-Bugs-and-Issues

It would be nice the have some official communication from Hammerhead about this.

@Robbin and this for me is really a questionable method. I bought the device, i want to decide when to Update and when not. Secret fix via push ist something where I want to know what Hammerhead ist doing. Also it would shift the overall view on the quality control picture in general. I m also Garmin owner so I know pain but with Garmin I never heard about secret update fixes invisible to Users. Also it seems that the easiest way to fix would be a rollback that hast not been offered yet which surprises me.

With terrible mistakes like these from Hammerhead, you'd really expect an official statement from them.
